Weston-Supere-Mare
In Weston-super-Mare while the town is best known for hosting Banksy's famous Dismaland in 2015, the influence of street art and public installations inspired by Banksy’s distinctive style can still be felt in various areas. Although Dismaland itself was a temporary exhibition, Banksy’s satirical and thought-provoking art has left a lasting cultural mark on the town, inspiring local street artists and creatives. One of the most striking and memorable pieces of public art in Weston-super-Mare was “The Sea Monster” an oil rig transformed into a massive, art installation on the beach. Officially titled "Mistere" this project was created by the street artist Banksy and his team for the 2015 Dismaland exhibition, a temporary "bemusement park" that offered a dystopian twist on traditional theme parks. The Sea Monster oil rig was a towering structure that loomed over the beach, evoking themes of environmental destruction, industrialization, and the tension between nature and man-made structures.
